Cooperation India – Germany on Energies in Transformation

The “strategic partnership” between India and Germany focuses on energies in transformation and climate change. In Germany, the history of energies in transformation is inextricably linked with a politically active civil society. In India, however, civil society involvement, critical studies and political statements against current government plans to increase the use of coal energy are sometimes prosecuted.
How does that fit into the partnership?
In our one day conference which will be held in English language we want to discuss how civil society should be involved in the bilateral cooperation. You´re invited to join!

Thema
Both, the German and Indian governments, have agreed a “strategic partnership” which will focus on energies in transformation (i.e. renewable) and climate change as well.
In Germany, the history of energies in transformation is inextricably linked with a politically active civil society.
In India, however, civil society involvement, critical studies and political statements against current government plans to increase the use of coal energy are sometimes prosecuted. In addition, mainly large companies are active in the field of energies in transition.
How does that fit into the partnership?
Is civil society participation in India even an aspect for the German side?
Our colleagues from the Indian civil society stress the importance that they may directly be involved from the beginning into programming and planning of the partnership on energies in transition.
The one day conference will explore opportunities for civil society involvement within the bilateral cooperation. The conference is online and held in English language. Our colleagues and further participants from India are also connected online.
You´re invited to join.
